Active corrosion protection

Protection from corrosion comes in many different forms – so they are divided into active and passive corrosion protection. When a component is still in the developing stage we speak of active corrosion protection. In order to completely eliminate every kind of corrosion from the start, it is possible to take additional preventative corrosion protection measures. Of course these passive measures are the aim of surface technology.

Active corrosion protection contains all functions of the selected, applied and calculated materials (for example power transmission or static). The protective measures contribute to avoiding corrosion or slowing down the speed of corrosion. Additional positive effects can be achieved with the right selection of materials or also with geometries and constructions which support corrosion protection.

Here the rule applies: ‘A construction which is hard to weld is normally also hard to protect.’ As a result these measures also help reduce environmental pollution.
