    It’s all about communication!

     

    In 2008, Nicolet Latuny got her first job at Coatinc Mook in Limburg, southern Holland, via the recruitment agency Adecco. The Coatinc Company runs a large factory in the small town of 7,000 inhabitants, where steel is galvanized in a 15 meter-long tank. Centrifugal galvanization, zinc flake coating, colored wet-coating and the anodization of aluminum are also provided from here.

    In such a large factory, the jobs to be filled go well beyond the purely technical tasks. Thus, Nicolet Latuny’s range of work included from the very outset administrative tasks as well as the coordination of the telephone exchange and customer care. Ms. Latuny gained all of the necessary skills in her training as an administrative officer (KMBO Administratie). After two two-year contracts, the 40 year-old now has a permanent position with one of the most renowned surface finishers with strong international ambitions. She really enjoys working in the team, especially because she comes into contact with so many different people. “Small but nice,” is how Nicolet Latuny describes her workplace.

    Whenever the swinging doors open, she never knows who will walk in. For example, it could be the porter, bringing her documents from a truck driver, or suppliers with invoices, or even a customer, who perhaps wishes to have 1,000 tons of steel galvanized and coated in a duplex procedure.

    The varied nature of her job is also what makes her happy to come into work every morning. That wasn’t always the case. During the economic crisis, which also affected the Netherlands badly, the working atmosphere was not always rosy. But the Dutch lady with Indonesian roots held on to her optimism and joyful nature, even in difficult times. Then, Ludger Kröger became the new manager and brought a breath of fresh air into Coatinc Mook. He restructured not only the sales department and modernized the grounds, but he also noticeably improved the communication between the workers at the kettle and the administrative staff.

    Today, everyone stands together, in order to solve a problem and ensure that the customer goes home satisfied. Employees now resolve any conflicts that arise with each other personally and directly.

    What is especially important to Nicolet Latuny: “The new structures allow co-determination of every single person – there is no longer a classic boss who works only “top-down.” Nicolet’s perseverance has paid off. Now, the mother of a 14-year-old son really enjoys her work in administration. If you know your own skill and limitations, you can tell when it’s
    worth being patient – and that also applies to all phases of the job (search).
